When patients compare dentists in ChatGPT, your practice appears below the answer
OpenAI’s 2026 ad policy lets US dental services advertise in ChatGPT, with case-by-case manual review. Ads appear below the answer, clearly labeled, and never change what ChatGPT says. We extend our Google Ads playbook into AI chat.
6 things we do for AI chat ads
Account setup and approval
OpenAI reviews health advertisers manually and may ask for proof of licensure. The account is opened by and owned by your practice; we prepare the materials and follow up.
Ads written for the conversation
ChatGPT picks ads from the current conversation. We write titles, copy and context hints per treatment for moments like finding a practice, comparing prices or checking insurance.
Matching landing pages
OpenAI reviews the ad and the landing page together. Each ad goes to the matching treatment page, with prices, offers and expiry dates exactly as advertised.
Copilot and Google AI Mode
Microsoft Copilot ads run through Microsoft Advertising, and eligible Google Search campaigns can appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode. We set these up together so one keyword and copy plan covers them all.
Conversion tracking
Clicks, calls and bookings from ChatGPT are tracked separately with no health details sent, and compared with Google Ads in one monthly report by cost per new patient.
Healthcare ad rules
No guaranteed results or “pain-free” claims and no before-and-after ads. We start with cleanings, new-patient visits, emergencies and Invisalign consults; surgical treatments like implants depend on review.
ChatGPT ad rules (from OpenAI)
- Dental services are an eligible health category, open only to US practices; health ads outside the US are not yet allowed
- OpenAI reviews each advertiser manually and may decline; prescription drugs, high-risk procedures and unsupported treatment claims aren’t allowed
- Ads don’t appear while someone is discussing personal health or symptoms; they’re more likely when comparing practices, prices or insurance
- Ads show only to Free and Go users (Plus, Pro and other paid plans have no ads) and never to users under 18
- OpenAI doesn’t share conversations with advertisers; we see aggregated data such as views and clicks
ChatGPT ads are very new, and approvals and results are still changing. We don’t promise approval or patient volume — start with a small test budget and compare cost per new patient with Google Ads. Rules based on OpenAI’s ad policy (September 2026).
